COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the end of this course each student should be able to:
▶ Safety introduce and pick up a 3/8ths curved needle in an appropriate position to make a bite through tissue
▶ Handle the needle to quickly adjust to desired angles
▶ Pass a needle and suture through tissues at suitable depth, angle, and distance for interrupted and continuous suturing
▶ Tie a safe laparoscopic Surgeon's knot
▶ Create a laparoscopic tumbled square knot
▶ Demonstrate continuous suturing, maintaining tension and completing the suture line safely
▶ Be able to apply the techniques to various clinical situateions, such as bariatric surgery, hepato pancreasbiliary surgery, or colorectal surgery

COURSE OBJECTIVES
• Provide the knowledge required to integrate EUS into clinical practice.
• Identify different materials and systems used for different Therapeutic EUS procedures.
• Identify pathological endoscopic ultrasound images like submucosal tumors, lymph nodes, different fluid collections, common bile duct dilatation and intrahepatic bile duct dilatation.
• Understand the real clinical settings of therapeutic endosonography with new linear echoendoscopic equipment, settings like elastography, contrastenhanced imaging techniques, harmonics and high-resolution Doppler images.
• Address the indications, techniques and results of the most common procedures in Therapeutic EUS including radiofrequency ablation.
• Present the fundamental technical requirements of EUS.
• Describe potential pitfalls and complications of EUS.
• Perform experimental Therapeutic EUS as vascular embolization with glue injection to introduce endoscopic ultrasound in minimally invasive therapies

• TEUS hands-on training on live tissue simulated models with echoendoscopy stations with scanner, C-ARM and latest generation MRI scanner used as therapeutic imaging modalities.
• More than 3 hours of live transmissions from the experimental imaging platform.

✔ Structured anatomic preparation, each step referring to clearly defined anatomical landmarks, after concise lectures and master dissection.
✔ Training places for dissection are very well-equipped with HD-videoendoscopy, a large variety of microsurgical instruments, shaver and navigation.
✔ Intensive supervision with at least one experienced supervisor for two dissection places.
✔ Specific adjunctive course material like access to essential videoclips of all important surgical steps as well as accompanying hand-outs are inclusive.

The B.E.S.T. program was created by IRCAD, a non-profit organization dedicated to students and young professionals in the medical field with an interest in Minimally Invasive Surgical Strategies (MISS).
Our objective is to educate our audience in MISS, regardless of their professional background, to make this training appealing, and to spur surgical innovation.
IRCAD France will be in charge of the registration for B.E.S.T. course.
